What it treats

  • Face: upper lip, chin, neck, middle brow, full face
  • Body: underarms, arms, hands, legs, feet, back, chest, stomach
  • Bikini, Brazilian and Hollywood
  • Beard line and full beard

How it works

You shave the area 24 hours before treatment. During the session we cool and ice the area, then work across it with the IPL handpiece. Most people describe it as a warm snap.

Hair grows in cycles, so a course is needed to catch every follicle in its growing phase. Regrowth gets finer and sparser as you go.

Before your visit

  • Shave the area thoroughly 24 hours before. Unshaved areas cannot be treated on the day, as long hair can damage the equipment.
  • Come with clean skin: no creams or deodorant on the area, and wear loose clothing.
  • No sun beds or sunbathing for 4 weeks before. Fake tan must be completely off the skin 10 days before.
  • No waxing, plucking, threading or epilating during your course. Shaving only.
  • Avoid Botox or filler in the area for 2 weeks, and ibuprofen for 48 hours, before your session.
  • Drink plenty of water and skip alcohol for 24 hours before.
  • Tell us straight away about any new medication, or if you become pregnant.

Afterwards, follow your aftercare guide.

Questions

Does it hurt?

It feels like a warm snap against the skin. The handpiece is cooled, and we adjust the settings to your comfort.

Is it the same as laser hair removal?

Both use light to target the hair follicle. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light through a filter rather than a single laser wavelength. Our IPL handpiece also adds radio frequency, which helps on a wider range of skin types.

Is it suitable for dark skin?

Our system is suitable up to skin type IV. We check your skin type at the consultation and patch test before any treatment.

Will it work on my hair colour?

The light targets the pigment in the hair, so it needs hair with enough dark pigment. It will not work on white, grey, blonde or red hair.

Is it permanent?

Most people see an 80% to 90% reduction over a full course. Treated follicles are destroyed, but hormones and some medications can wake up new ones, so we recommend a maintenance session once or twice a year.

What do I get at my first visit?

A care pack to start you off, with an exfoliating mitt, silver gel and your aftercare sheet.

What if I miss a session?

Please keep to the spacing your laser technician recommends. Long gaps can hold back your results, and we cannot always fit you in quickly at short notice.
